§ 47-189. Sewer service charges.

  • A sewer service charge is hereby imposed upon each lot, parcel of land, building, or premises served by the public sewer and wastewater facilities or otherwise discharging sewage, including industrial wastes, into the public sewerage system. Such sewer service charge as established in appendix A to this Code shall be payable as hereinafter provided and in amounts determinable as follows:

    (1)

    Category A. Normal or domestic strength wastewater having organic concentrations of biochemical oxygen demand BOD no greater than 200 milligrams per liter (mg/l), total suspended solids (TSS) no greater than 250 mg/l, total Kjedahl nitrogen (TKN) no greater than 40 mg/l, and phosphorus no greater than 8 mg/l. The sewer service charge for category A wastewater is listed in appendix A to the ordinance from which this section is derived and is file in the village clerk's office.

    (2)

    Category B. Wastewater having organic concentrations of BOD greater than 200 mg/l, TSS greater than 250 mg/l, TKN greater than 40 mg/l, and phosphorus greater than 8 mg/l. The sewer service charge for category B wastewater is listed in appendix A to the ordinance from which this section is derived and is file in the village clerk's office.

    (3)

    Category C. Septage and holding tank waste which has organic concentrations of BOD greater than 7,000 and 600 mg/l, respectively, TSS greater than 15,000 and 1,800 mg/l, respectively, TKN greater than 500 and 45 mg/l, respectively, and phosphorus greater than 180 and 24 mg/l, respectively.
